This study examines the impact of motivation on employee performance within the context of the Suleja Local Government Administration in Niger State, Nigeria. The aim of the research is to identify how motivational strategies influence the productivity and efficiency of employees in the public sector. The study employs a survey-based methodology, utilizing questionnaires to collect data from employees within the administration. The data is analyzed using simple percentages to derive meaningful insights. Key findings suggest that the employees at Suleja Local Government Administration exhibit low performance due to factors such as absenteeism, tardiness, and general inefficiency, all of which are exacerbated by inadequate motivation. Additionally, poor morale among employees was found to significantly hinder their overall productivity and job satisfaction. In light of these findings, the research recommends that the management of Suleja Local Government Administration should prioritize the creation of a motivating work environment. This includes implementing effective motivational techniques, investing in employee training and development, and ensuring that personnel management strategies align with the needs of employees. By doing so, the administration can improve employee satisfaction, enhance performance, and achieve the organization’s goals more effectively. This research underscores the critical role of motivation in enhancing employee performance in public sector organizations.
