This research examines the treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) within Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. By engaging respondents from secondary schools, tertiary institutions, civil servants, and traders, the study identifies modes of transmission, predisposing factors, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive measures for STDs. Using questionnaires and oral interviews, data from 343 respondents reveal that abstinence from sex and fidelity to one partner remain the most effective preventive strategies. The findings emphasize the necessity of voluntary counseling, sex education, and parental guidance in curbing the spread of STDs, particularly among youths. The study highlights the devastating effects of STDs, including infertility, ectopic pregnancies, cervical cancer, and systemic complications such as heart and central nervous system disorders. Furthermore, the research underlines the challenges posed by limited access to effective treatment, the high cost of care, and inadequate awareness among the population. Recommendations include incorporating comprehensive sex education in schools, promoting accessible healthcare services, and encouraging public campaigns to raise awareness about safe sexual practices. By addressing these issues, this study aims to foster a healthier society through the effective management and prevention of STDs.
