ABSTRACT

This study explores the impact of communication gaps on organizational performance, with a focus on the Nnewi North Local Government Area Secretariat. Communication is an integral aspect of organizational success, as it ensures the effective flow of information and fosters collaboration among employees and management. The research aims to investigate the existing communication processes within the Secretariat, identify barriers, and assess how communication gaps affect organizational performance. The study uses a combination of survey methods, including questionnaires, interviews, and observations, to gather data from both senior and junior staff. The findings reveal that communication plays a crucial role in achieving organizational goals. However, gaps in communication were identified, primarily due to factors such as unclear messaging, poor listening, and the use of ineffective communication methods. These gaps hinder the smooth execution of tasks, reduce productivity, and lead to misunderstandings. The research further highlights the need for improved communication channels and training to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Secretariat. It is recommended that the management adopt more inclusive and transparent communication practices to bridge existing gaps and boost performance. The study’s findings provide valuable insights for improving communication strategies within the local government sector and other similar organizations, aiming to enhance organizational performance and employee satisfaction.
