Fuel distribution in Nigeria remains a critical challenge despite the country’s vast oil reserves. This research examines the problems associated with fuel distribution, including pipeline vandalism, inadequate infrastructure, corruption, hoarding, and inefficient supply chain management. The study explores how these factors contribute to persistent fuel scarcity and price fluctuations, affecting economic stability and citizens’ livelihoods. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, data were collected from fuel marketers, regulatory bodies, and consumers to analyze the inefficiencies in the system. Findings reveal that poor regulatory enforcement, sabotage of pipelines, and limited refining capacity are key obstacles hindering smooth fuel distribution. Additionally, the role of independent marketers and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in fuel allocation and pricing was evaluated. The study proposes solutions such as investment in refining capacity, enhanced pipeline security, better regulatory oversight, and the adoption of technology-driven logistics management to streamline fuel supply. Implementing these strategies can reduce supply disruptions, stabilize fuel prices, and improve energy availability in Nigeria. This research highlights the urgent need for policy reforms and infrastructural upgrades to ensure a more efficient and sustainable fuel distribution system in Nigeria.
