This study investigates the role of product innovation as a strategic tool for the survival of manufacturing firms in Nigeria, with a particular focus on Ama Breweries (Nig) Plc, Enugu. Product innovation is critical for companies to maintain competitiveness and adapt to market demands. Through an analysis of Ama Breweries, the research explores how the introduction of new or modified products can improve market positioning and consumer appeal. Despite challenges such as inadequate capital, limited time for planning, and a lack of sufficient market data, product innovation remains essential for sustaining business growth. The study identifies key barriers to successful innovation, including issues with product packaging, labeling, branding, and positioning. Data was collected from staff and distributors through questionnaires, and the findings highlight the need for strategic focus on these elements to enhance product performance. The results emphasize the importance of aligning product development with consumer needs to remain competitive in the Nigerian manufacturing sector. This research contributes valuable insights for managers of manufacturing firms, particularly in the Nigerian context, on leveraging product innovation as a strategy to achieve business longevity and market dominance.
