Abstract:

This study investigates the utilisation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the learning of Integrated Science among student-teachers at the College of Education, Ekiadolor, Benin City. As the world transitions into a digital age, integrating ICT into educational systems has become increasingly critical for enhancing teaching effectiveness and student engagement. Using a descriptive survey method, the research sampled 100 student-teachers across multiple academic levels, employing questionnaires as the primary data collection tool. Results revealed a high frequency of ICT usage among respondents, with 95% reporting regular interaction with digital tools. However, challenges such as inadequate ICT infrastructure, poor internet connectivity, and lack of competition among service providers were identified as key constraints. The findings further highlighted a significant shift from traditional school libraries to internet-based resources, driven by accessibility and convenience. Despite these barriers, students overwhelmingly support the increased adoption of ICT tools in their academic experience. The study concludes with recommendations for improved digital literacy, expanded infrastructure, and policies to foster a more tech-friendly learning environment. These insights underscore the transformative role ICT plays in shaping modern teacher education and preparing student-teachers for 21st-century classrooms.
