This study evaluates the performance of women entrepreneurs in technological and non-technological enterprises in Lagos, Nigeria, focusing on the micro-level challenges they face. It explores the influence of gender-specific factors on their entrepreneurial success, highlighting key issues such as access to human and social capital, resources, and structural barriers. The research investigates how these factors affect the business choices and performance outcomes of female entrepreneurs in both sectors. A comparative analysis was conducted between women in technological (high-growth) and non-technological (traditional) industries to identify factors contributing to business success, with a particular focus on barriers to entry and growth. Findings indicate that while women in non-technological businesses face fewer entry barriers, their businesses are often constrained by limited access to technology, finance, and market opportunities. In contrast, women in technological enterprises, although facing greater initial challenges, benefit from better access to training, technological support, and market information. The study also highlights the role of education, managerial skills, and government support programs in empowering women to improve their business outcomes. The paper emphasizes the importance of developing policies and support systems that can address these gender-related challenges and foster a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem. By providing recommendations for policy interventions and support structures, the study seeks to enhance the performance of women entrepreneurs and promote gender equality in the Nigerian business landscape.
